CAYDEN BROWN
PROTECTING KID’S RIGHTS
AROUND THE WORLD
Psst… I wrote a book!
And it’s exactly what I wished I had at six years old.
The Kid in the Courtroom follows the story of a young boy on a search for his voice while caught in the middle of a confusing custody battle, where life-changing decisions are made by adults—and a judge who never asks to hear from him.
This book explores the emotions children experience when their voices go unheard in decisions about their lives, and reminds everyone who reads that no matter how young someone may be, their voice deserves to be heard.
Early Praise for
The Kid in the Courtroom
“…Him leaning upon his personal experiences and putting pen to paper to craft such a motivating book for young people to read is truly awe-inspiring!”
“He is an AMAZING young man who continues to set a wonderful example for so many young people.”
The Honorable David Law Judge, Michigan 52nd District Court, 1st Division“An empowering picture book that reassures children their voices matter, even during the uncertainty of divorce and court proceedings.”
“With warmth and clarity, it helps young readers understand that they are seen, heard, and valued—no matter the outcome.”
Maria Dismondy Award-winning children’s author of the bestselling book Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun“I started to recognize that I am still healing. So his message is not just about the voices of young people not being heard, it’s also about the history of what happens to children in this country—even myself, as a child whose voice was silenced.”
“I am in awe. And I think what I walked away with is that we all are human.”
